Korean Register (KR) have appointed a new chairman and ceo eight months after Chon Young-Kee resigned over the Sewol disaster.
On Thursday KR elected Park Bum-shik, former coo Korea P&I Club, as its new chairman and ceo. Park has been an external director of KR for a number of years.
“It is my job to build on the continuing success of KR and drive its growth to become one of the top performing classification societies in the world,” Park said.
“I plan to achieve that through facilitating a flexible organisation culture, a global business infrastructure and sustainable growth through financial stability. My role is to provide the support our staff members need to enable them to perform at the top of their game.”
Previous chairman Chon resigned at the end of April following the Sewol disaster.
