Yangzijiang Shipbuilding bags new 13 orders to build box ships and bulkers

SINGAPORE-LISTED Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has announced has bagged 13 orders in the last quarter of which nine are immediately effective with a contracted value of US$388 million.

The Jingjiang shipyard near Shanghai in adjacent Jiangsu province, said the orders include two 10,000-TEU ships from existing options and seven new shipbuilding contracts consisting of four 36,500-dwt bulk carriers, two 2,700-TEUers and one 64,000-dwt bulker, reports Singapore's Business Times.

The four remaining orders were new options with an aggregate value of $122 million for two 6,500-dwt bulk carriers and two 2,700-TEU vessels.

The contracts are scheduled for deliveries starting this year till 2017, and do not have any significant impact on the earnings of the group for the financial year ended December 31.

Yangzijiang's total effective shipbuilding contracts in 2014 stand at 41, with an aggregate value of $1.3 million, and six outstanding options - two 10,000-TEUers, two 36,500-dwt bulk carriers and two 2,700-TEU ships that have been carried into this year.
