Busan moves higher container volumes in August

South Korea’s Busan port has moved higher container throughput in August, according to figures released by Busan Port Authority (BPA) on Sunday.

Last month, the Korean port handled 1.63m teu of container volumes, representing an increase of 4.4% compared to the same month of 2014, BPA figures showed.

Transhipment volumes in August were registered at 855,000 teu, accounting for 52% of the total monthly throughput. Last month’s transhipment volume was also the highest recorded this year, beating the previous record in January of 849,000 teu.

In the first eight months of this year, Busan port recorded a total throughput of 13m teu, an increase of 5% year-on-year.
