China Shipping Industry, the shipbuilding unit of China Shipping Group, suspended all operations at its Shanghai yard yesterday for safety inspection and training, following a scaffolding collapse, which eventually caused the death of two workers, and another injured six.

An official at the yard admitted to local media that the yard’s safety management wasn’t strict enough.

The official said the contractor for building the scaffolding was supposed to start the work in the daytime, however, it started the work at night without notifying the shipyard.

Currently authorities are still investigating the incident.
