Goldenport Holdings has sold three containerships to Dragnis-controlled Goldenport Containerships Inc. (GCI) in an effort to reduce the company’s outstanding debt.
The company has sold the 1996-built Fortunate, 1992-built Gitte and 1992-built Brilliantwith delivery taking place earlier this week, on December 21. The sale increases the cash position of the company by $976,000 and outstanding debt has been reduced by $9.424m
At an EGM last month, Goldenport Holdings proposed the sale of seven vessels to Dragnis family companies GCI and Echo at total at a price of $52.5m. Once both of the sales are completed, Goldenport will use $42.1m for the final settlement of a loan with Royal Bank of Scotland.
Goldenport did not reveal whether the vessels would be chartered back to the company, however the Fortunate has been without employment since September 23.
