DP World in $35m Rwanda logistics centre concession

Expanding in Africa DP World has been granted a concession to develop and operate a new $35m logistics complex in Rwanda.

The DP World Kigali Logistics Centre is a greenfield project and the first phase will encompass 90,000 sq m. This will include a 12,000 sq m container yard and a 19,600 sq m warehousing facility. Estimated annual capacity is 50,000 teu with 640,000 tonnes of warehousing space.

The terminal operator said the estimated cost of the project was $35m with further development in line with demand growth.

“We continue to be optimistic about the outlook for Africa and are proud to expand our footprint in the region. We aim to further develop the logistics sector through DP World Kigali Logistics to help meet the country’s 2020 vision of creating a strong domestic logistics services operator in the region,” said DP World Group ceo Mohammed Sharaf.
