China Cosco Shipping Corporation Limited, the newly merged entity between conglomerates China Cosco Group and China Shipping Group (CSG), will be officially opened in Shanghai on 18 February.

A statement obtained by the local media has stated the address and contact details for the office of the newly formed shipping group, and the website is also already live at http://www.coscocs.com/.

The merger of Cosco and CSG was formally approved by Beijing in December last year, and the deal will create several units focusing on distinct businesses such as container shipping, dry bulk shipping, ports and terminals, among others.

Xu Lirong, current chairman of CSG, will lead the new China Cosco Shipping Corporation.
