Navios Acquisition to sell two chemical tankers for $74.6m

Navios Maritime Acquisition Corporation has agreed to sell two chemical tankers for $74.6m to an unnamed unaffiliated third party, resulting in an expected book gain of around $11.7m.

The vessels sold were the 2013-built, 45,281-dwt Nave Constellation, and the 2013-built, 45,513-dwt Nave Universe.

The chemical tankers were acquired by Navios Acquisition in 2013 at a total purchase price of $67.2m.

“Navios Acquisition intends to use the proceeds from the sale of these vessels for repayment of indebtedness and general working capital purposes,” Navios Acquisition said.

The sale is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2016, following the completion of the vessels’ chartering commitments.
