2016-12-21

Aspida Maritime Security officially became a Green Award incentive provider on 16 December, 2016. Aspida will help Green Award certificate holders and ships to enhance security at an attractive discount.

Green Award certificate proves that the ship’s or ship manager’s performance goes beyond the industry regulations in terms of safety, quality and prevention of environmental damage. Green Award ships strive for excellence of management and operations and are rewarded by incentive providers, ports and maritime businesses, for their efforts.

Aspida Maritime Security has become a Green Award incentive provider in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility guidelines. The company will support quality shipping by ensuring that sustainable ships certified by Green Award get access to great security enhancement services and products at a special price.

Effective 16 December 2016, Aspida will reimburse a 10% of the annual Green Award fees to all Green Award certified ships utilizing Aspida’s Onboard Security teams. It will also offer a discount of 15% on the tariff of the Cyber Security User Awareness courses, 10% off on Cyber Security Audits to all Green Award Certified Ships and a 5% discount on all other Maritime Security services (in-port security, consultancy, training). Furthermore, Aspida offers free external Cyber Security Vulnerability Assessment to all Green Award certified companies.

On 16 December 2016, Mr Dimitrios Mattheou, Green Award Chairman, handed over a symbolic Green Award plaque to Mr Panos Moraitis, CEO of Aspida Maritime Security, sealing the co-operation. ‘In spite of reports declaring that piracy is decreasing, the maritime industry still faces serious challenges to the security of its crews, cargoes and vessels. The estimated annual loss due to piracy worldwide is about $13 billion. The duty to make travel and transport by sea as safe as possible necessitates the cooperation of all involved parties to the fullest possible extent, in the repression of piracy on global and regional levels,’ said Mr Mattheou.
