Spotted: Niestern Sander Splashes Wagenborg’s New Ship

Borg, a multipurpose (MPP) ship owned by Dutch shipowner and operator Royal Wagenborg, was launched at compatriot Niestern Sander shipyard on February 9, 2017.

This ice-strengthened MPP vessel of the EasyMax type is said to be the largest vessel ever built at the yard situated on the land side of the dikes in the north of the Netherlands.

The 14,200 dwt Borg features a length of 149.5 meters and a width of 15.9 meters.

The newbuilding will be delivered to the owner in April 2017 when christening and naming are also scheduled to take place, according to Wagenborg.

The company’s MPP fleet is comprised of more than 180 ships, ranging in size from 1,700 to 23,000 tons.
