Strategic Marine Clinches Order for Two Ferries

2017-03-14

Strategic Marine, a subsidiary of TRIYARDS Holdings Limited, has received contracts worth USD 20.6 million to construct two passenger ferries for two ferry operators.

Under the contracts, the company will build an 85-meter vehicle passenger ferry for Scottish ferry operator Pentland Ferries, while the second vessel, a 40-meter high-speed passenger ferry, was ordered by an undisclosed Asian operator.

Pentland Ferries’ new vessel, which is scheduled for delivery during the first half of 2018, will be deployed between Gills Bay on the Scottish mainland and St. Margaret’s Hope in the Orkney Islands.

Designed by Southampton-based BMT Nigel Gee, the ferry will be able to accommodate 98 cars and 430 passengers.

The 40-meter passenger ferry, scheduled for delivery in early 2018, is expected to be operating at 32 knots with 418 passengers on board. To be designed by Sydney-based One2Three Naval Architects, the ferry will be powered by four main engines driving waterjet propulsion.

“I am pleased to announce the new orders in the first quarter of 2017 and would like to welcome the new clients into the big family of Strategic Marine vessel owners. These orders add further depth to our ferry portfolio where we are currently receiving strong interest from clients around the world due to the high quality and purpose built vessel solutions that we offer from our yards in Vietnam and Singapore,” Mark Schiller, the Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Marine, said.
