GTT to equip new Hyundai Heavy Industries’ LNG carrier

GTT has received an order from Hyundai Heavy Industries to equip a new LNG carrier with its Mark III Flex containment system. Hyundai’s shipyard based in Ulsan – South Korea – will build the vessel of 180,000 m3 on behalf of the Norwegian shipping company NORSPAN LNG XI AS (Knutsen). Delivery is scheduled in 2019.

Knutsen is a long-standing owner of LNG carriers equipped with membrane technology. With ten vessels of this type, Knutsen is renewing its confidence in GTT technology by choosing Mark III Flex for this new vessel.

“We are very pleased with the excellent cooperation we have with Knutsen and Hyundai Heavy Industries. We are proud to be associated with this new project”, declared Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT.

GTT records the first LNG carrier order of the year. With its Mark III Flex containment system, GTT provides efficient insulation solution able to reduce the daily guaranteed boil-off gas rate to 0.085 % of tank volume. The Mark and NO ranges have been designed to meet all the transport and storage requirements of liquefied gases. Both technologies are continuously improved based on unparalleled feedback from actual use at sea.

GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz) is an engineering company expert in containment systems with cryogenic membranes used to transport and store liquefied gas, in particular LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). For over 50 years, GTT has been maintaining reliable relationships with all stakeholders of the gas industry (shipyards, shipowners, gas companies, terminal operators, classification societies). The company designs and provides technologies which combine operational efficiency and safety, to equip LNG carriers, floating terminals, and multi-gas carriers. GTT also develops solutions dedicated to land storage and to the use of LNG as fuel for the vessel propulsion, as well as a full range of services.

GTT is listed on Euronext Paris, Compartment A (ISIN FR0011726835 Euronext Paris: GTT) and is notably included in SBF 120 and MSCI Small Cap indices.
