Officially recognised once again: DNV GL Excellence – 5 Stars certificate for E.R. Schiffahrt

2017-07-06

The Hamburg-based ship management company E.R. Schiffahrt has once again received the ‘DNV GL Excellence – 5 Stars’ certificate after three years. Only seven shipping companies in the world hold the prestigious certificate. With the certificate, the classification society confirms reliable, first-class shipping operations as well as the implementation of and compliance with exceptional safety, environmental and quality standards. These include voluntary safety drills, for example.

Matthias Ritters, Regional Manager Germany at DNV GL – Maritime, presented the certificate to Nils Aden, CEO of E.R. Schiffahrt, in Hamburg last week.

‘E.R. Schiffahrt has made a strong commitment to safety, sustainability and energy efficiency in its operations and we are very pleased to honour this with the DNV GL Excellence – 5 Stars certificate. It demonstrates that the company has taken a holistic approach to advancing its business and that E.R. Schiffahrt operates a future-oriented fleet,’ says Matthias Ritters.

E.R. Schiffahrt meets the highest quality requirements. In 2011, it became the first German shipping company with an entire fleet to be certified according to all relevant standards. ‘Receiving the Excellence – 5 Stars certificate once again confirms our own high quality and safety standards, which are becoming increasingly important to our customers,’ explains Nils Aden.

The company has now been certified again in accordance with the international codes ISM (International Safety Management), ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security) and MLC 2006 (Maritime Labour Convention), as well as the ISO standards ISO 9001:2015 (quality management system), ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management system), ISO 50001:2011 (energy efficiency) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series).
