Mr. Dominguez stated that this large-scale evacuation operation will proceed in close collaboration with Iran, Oman, other coastal states in the region, the United States, and the shipping industry. According to his account, the IMO has obtained the necessary security guarantees and has completed a comprehensive verification of navigational safety conditions to support the smooth execution of the operation.

Mr. Dominguez also stressed that the IMO will continue to do its utmost to safeguard the personal safety of seafarers and to maintain the uninterrupted flow of global trade. In his earlier statement, he had also made special mention of mourning the 14 innocent seafarers who tragically lost their lives in this conflict, stating that their dedication to global trade will not be forgotten.

On June 23, US President Donald Trump stated that the United States is "committed to reaching a fair agreement with Iran" to end the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz.

On the same day, Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, stated that the Strait of Hormuz is now open for a period of 60 days, during which no fees will be charged. The two sides have decided to establish a communication mechanism to monitor and resolve any issues that may arise. The specific arrangements for the strait beyond the 60-day period will be determined by the outcome of negotiations between Iran and the US.

In a joint statement issued on the 23rd, Oman and Iran, as coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz, reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safe passage of vessels through the strait in accordance with applicable international law. The two sides indicated they will continue their dialogue on the Strait of Hormuz through a joint working group established between their respective foreign ministries, with a view to reaching agreement on a future navigation management mechanism, related service arrangements, and fee structures, while ensuring that such arrangements conform to international standards.

In the early hours of the 24th, the Omani side issued a statement announcing that Oman has coordinated with the International Maritime Organization to open a temporary maritime corridor through the Strait of Hormuz for all vessels.
