On March 30, the Dalian Maritime University Qingdao Institute was officially inaugurated during the 2026 Qingdao International Shipping Week.

The institute, established as a non-independent legal entity research organization under the university, is designed to serve as a core engine supporting the high-quality development of port and shipping logistics as well as the marine economy. Guided by the principle of “rooted in Qingdao, serving Shandong, radiating to surrounding regions, and advancing toward the sea,” the institute will closely align with national strategies and regional development needs.

It will focus on building four key platforms: a full-chain maritime technology innovation center, a hub for shaping international maritime rules, a high-end talent training base for the shipping industry, and a platform for alumni collaboration and industry-education integration.

The inauguration marks a key step forward in the integration of industry and education, as well as the convergence of science and education, between Dalian Maritime University and the city of Qingdao. It is expected to inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the regional shipping economy.
