Nov. 11 Daily Dry Bulk Comment

2013-11-12

A moderate amount of dry bulk vessels were chartered in the spot market today, including a firm amount of both capesize vessels chartered to haul iron ore cargoes and panamax vessels chartered to haul coal cargoes. If such strength in iron ore and coal volume continues this week, then capesize and panamax rates are likely to rebound. For now, however, they have continued to come under pressure. As with much of last week, supramax and handysize rates have continued to find a small amount of support, however, as mineral cargo trade has remained firm and fleet growth in the supramax and handysize markets have remained at manageable levels.
