An extremely large amount of capesize vessels were chartered today to haul iron ore cargoes to buyers in China. This has further propelled capesize rates, with average capesize rates rising by a staggering $4,576 today. Rates for the other three dry bulk vessel classes have also found support today, albeit by a much smaller amount than capesize rates. A moderate amount of coal, grain, and mineral cargoes have continued to surface in the market.
