Recently, the Xin Fu 137, China's first privately constructed 100,000 cubic metre Very Large Ethane Carrier (VLEC) built by Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding, departed safely from Taizhou, Jiangsu, to commence its sea trials under the full supervision of the Taizhou maritime authorities. This marks a new milestone for China's private shipbuilding sector in the high-end, specialized vessel construction arena.

The Xin Fu 137 has an overall length of 229.9 meters and a molded breadth of 36.5 meters, with a cargo tank capacity of 100,000 cubic metres, placing it among the world's largest ethane carriers. The vessel's technical specifications, safety standards, and green performance credentials are all at the top international level. The ship is the first in a series of five identical vessels being built by Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding for SP Chemicals (Taixing), with a total project investment of US$800 million.
