On May 24, the Tauranga Mærsk, the second 9,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel containership built by New Yangzi Shipbuilding for Maersk, cast off from the shipyard terminal and was delivered into service.

This vessel is the second in a series of six 9,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel containerships being constructed by New Yangzi Shipbuilding for Maersk. The series represents the largest methanol-fueled project in the shipyard's construction history. Construction commenced in May 2025, with the build cycle spanning over 370 days, and the vessel was completed and delivered 134 days ahead of the contractual delivery date.

On May 19, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and Maersk jointly held the naming ceremony for the vessel. The ceremony was attended by Godmother Linda Wisthus; Simon Wisthus, Maersk's Project Execution and Site Management Director; Xue Maogen, Senior Commercial Advisor at Lloyd's Register; Zhu Hongwei, Newbuilding Manager at Clarksons; Ji Hongfei, Deputy General Manager of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding; and representatives from related partner organizations.
