2014-08-15

With a sagging shipping market in the global, market demand is under some new changes and the shipbuilding industry will be in the period of structural adjustment for a long time. New rules and standards for international shipbuilding are coming one after another, and requirements for marine energy saving, safety and environmental protection are being promoted constantly, which results in many "gaps" in shipping market. Therefore, shipbuilding enterprises must intensify technological innovation strength, seek to find and grasp market gaps with growth potential, and turn it into development opportunities eventually.

According to the latest statistics from a British research company, global shipbuilding industry is experiencing the most large-scale structural adjustment in history. At the same time, Chinese government issued the 12th Five-Year Plan, which set engineering ship, commercial ship and public service ship as one of the development goals in the Five-Year Plan.

Enormous Market Demand means the best time to expand market

In latest five-year plan, China plans to build at least 30 marine law-enforcement vessels of above thousand tons berth. Over the last two years, as the needs for maintaining national marine rights and guaranteeing the safety of marine business is increasingly growing, several departments like fishery, Marine Surveillance, MSA, Border Defence, Customs are accelerating the speed of ship construction plan. According to relevant sources, a lot of projects for building law-enforcement vessels begin to be subjected to tender this year, while it is originally planned to initiate those projects in 2015 and 2016. 2013 and 2014 are expected to see 30% year-on-year growth in market demand for Public Service vessels!

At the same time, China Shipbuilding Industry Association (CANSI) issues the Analysis of Economic Operation of Domestic Shipbuilding Industry in 2013, which shows that the market of marine industry in 2013 maintains steady growth. Orders for various ocean engineering is more than $18 billion, accounting for about 29.5% of the world's market share, 16% higher than that in 2012, which means China has surpassed Singapore ranking the second in the world. CANSI also predicates that marine engineering equipment market will still be active, especially the market prospect of floating marine engineering equipment will be relatively optimistic. With the continuous growth in ocean engineering market and continuous progress of port construction, the demand for supply ships, pilot vessels and dredgers will increase rapidly!
