ExxonMobil is progressing plans to build the world's largest LNG-FPSO (FLNG) unit to develop the Scarborough gas field off Australia.

Sources say the company is currently engaged in discussions with engineering companies about its plan to construct a six million-tonne-per-annum (mtpa) capacity LNG floater.

They indicate a pre-front-end engineering and design (Pre-FEED) process is expected to be launched during this month.

ExxonMobil has been in tour to shipyards this year to have technical discussions on FLNG.
