Atomflot tenders for Icebreakers

Russia's Atomflot announced tenders for the construction of two multi-purpose icebreakers.

The tender documentation reads that the total maximum price of the state contracts is around 86.1 billion rubles.

It is stated in tender material that it is expected that 42 billion rubles will be allocated for the construction of the first vessel, and 44.1 billion rubles for the second.

According to project documentation, the main tasks of the icebreakers will be independent steering of vessels, year-round leading of convoys in the Western Arctic, steering of ships in shallow sections and the Ob Bay, as well as assistance and towing of vessels through ice and clean water.

The first ship should be built by 25 December 2019, and the second by 25 December 2020.
