Finland's marine equipment suppliers are proceeding with plans to acquire a minority stake in compatriot shipyard STX Finland.

The local companies are also said to have asked the Finnish government to step in and invest in the shipyard.

Late last year STX Finland failed to win a third Oasis-class cruiseship newbuilding order from Royal Caribbean and is running out of orders.

The yard may cut hundreds of jobs after it failed to win the mega cruisehip order.

Finnish government is considering help measures for the shipyard and is mulling buying a stake as an option.
