Mercator Transport Moves Big Cargoes to Africa and China

Mercator Transport recently completed a pair of oversize, ocean-going transports.

Working with AlShip Navegaçao, Mercator arranged for the shipment of an 18-tonne mobile crusher from Amarante, Portugal. The crusher measured 9.8 meters long, 2.79 meters wide and 4.4 meters high, Worldwide Project Consortium said on behalf of its member.

The crusher was transported to Barcelona by road and then loaded onto a vessel bound for Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, where it trucked to the project site in Burundi.

Mercator also moved a handled the transport of a crystallizer in three crates, each measuring 5.32 meters long, 5.12 meters wide and 4.68 meters high. Each piece weighed over 43 tonnes.

The shipment was transported from France to the Port of Antwerp, where it was loaded onto a vessel that carried it to Shanghai. At the Chinese port, the crystallizer was moved by barge to Taizhou. Mercator partnered with Ocean Knight Shipping in China.
