Taiwan’s state-run energy company CPC Corp. is receiving a spot cargo of liquefied natural gas from Nigeria today at its Yongan terminal, according to ship tracking data.

The Methane Heather Sally, with a capacity of 142,702 cubic meters, will arrive at the port of Yongan in southern Taiwan, according to ship transmissions captured by IHS Fairplay on Bloomberg. The tanker sailed from Nigeria LNG’s Bonny Island terminal, where it loaded the supercooled gas and departed April 2.

Kudo Eresia-Eke, an Abuja-based Nigeria LNG official, didn’t reply to an e-mail sent outside normal working hours seeking comment. A CPC official in Taipei didn’t respond to calls to his desk phone seeking comment.

CPC has no long-term LNG-purchase contracts with Nigeria LNG, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The company has a 3 million metric-ton-a-year receiving facility at Taichung in central Taiwan and a 7.4 million ton terminal at Yongan.

CPC said Feb. 21 it will seek to buy as many as three cargoes of LNG for delivery in April and May to prepare for peak summer power demand driven by air-conditioning needs.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA) lifted its force majeure April 17 on gas supplies to Nigeria LNG. The shutdown, which began Feb. 5, reduced gas supply to Nigeria LNG by about 45%, Eresia-Eke said in a statement e-mailed on Feb. 13.

The BW Suez Everett, with a capacity of 138,028 cubic meters, last delivered a cargo of spot natural gas from Egyptian LNG to CPC at Yongan on April 17.
