Adani Ports & SEZ and MSC Mediterranean Shipping form JV To operate a new container terminal in Mundra

Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd, part of the Adani Group, a global integrated infrastructure player today said it had formed a joint venture with Switzerland - Based MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company , the world’s leading shipping company to operate the “Adani International Container Terminal Private Ltd” (AICTPL), in South Basin, the third container terminal at Mundra port.

Mundra Port, India’s largest private port has set up this new container terminal which

has a capacity of 1.5 Million TEUs ,Deploys the largest cranes, has deepest water depths & longest berths herald ing a new innings in Indian Maritime history.

The New terminal has state of the art technology and environmentally friendly footprint.

“Adani Ports has been at the forefront of creating Modern Port Infrastructure, catering to the EXIM & Domestic needs for over 16 years. The new Container Terminal will enable the biggest and largest container vessels to seamlessly berth & operate at Mundra.With rapid access to North & West India hinterland, the Trade at large will benefit from s cale benefits of larger vessels calling at Mundra, in addition to proximity to hinterland markets, providing a compelling cost advantage to port users.

The new Container Terminal will be a regional hub with Trans - shipment of International cargo being performed,” said Mr Gautam Adani, Chairman Adani Group.“These facilities, along with other terminals in Mundra & Hazira are poised to serve the nation’s sorely needed infrastructure shortages.

Furthermore, Adani Ports will be expanding capacity to serve the nation’s port infrastructure needs, providing International standards of capability & cost efficiency”, Mr Adani added.Mundra Port has excellent rail connectivity to North & West India ICDs and operates double stack container trains to ICD Patli & others ICDs in NCR zone.
