Strong winds may hit prompt Fujairah bunker fuel deliveries: sources Tweet

Strong winds may affect prompt bunker fuel deliveries for the next few days, in the port of Fujairah, market sources said Thursday.

A weather forecast from StormGeo, sent to market sources, predicted "strong to near gale force winds with moderate to high sea/swell." There was also a dust risk of 25%, the report added. Visibility was expected to be around 3-5 nautical miles with further reduction if there is dust and haze.

In view of the forecast, the Vopak-Horizon terminal was heard to have suspended any berthing activities at its terminal till further notice, said one source.

Market sources said some sellers were concerned about the safety of delivering fuel in the less-than-ideal conditions but others saw no issue with deliveries.

Deliveries further out in the three-seven days forward were not a problem, said sellers.

Demand on the Thursday spot market was also slow, so that would pose fewer problems for delivery logistics, given current weather conditions, sellers added.
