Product tanker Orapin 4 has been recovered and is now anchored at Thailand's Sriracha port, after the tanker lost contact with authorities last Wednesday.

The 3,800-dwt was hijacked by pirates who boarded the tanker, robbed the oil onboard and destroyed the communication equipment before they left the tanker, according to ReCAAP ISC. The crew were all safe.

The Orapin 4 arrived at Sriracha port on 1 June at about 1930 housrs local time.

“Details of the incident are not known at this juncture as investigation is ongoing. The ReCAAP ISC is working closely with the Focal Point (Thailand) to gather the details,” ReCAAP said.

The Thai-registered tanker was carrying 3,377 metric tonnes of marine diesel and had failed to arrived as scheduled at its destination Pontianak in Indonesia last Thursday.
