Vard bags $133m offshore construction and anchor handling vessel

Offshore shipbuilder Vard Holdings has secured an NOK800m ($133.2m) contract to design and build an offshore construction and anchor handling vessel for Rem offshore.

The hull of the 400 t bollard pull ship will be built in the group's Romanian yard Vard Tulcea, with the finished product delivered by Vard Brattvaag in Norway in Q1 2016.

The Vard 2 06 design ship, was specifically developed in the group's design arm in Ålesund, Norway to use an A-frame and winch system along with an active heave compensated crane with a 3000m range.

Accommodation aboard will serve 90 people, with offices for project management. They ship will also be fitted with an ROV launch and recovery system.
