2014-08-10

Rosneft has announced its intention to place up to 16 storage tankers in the anchorage area of port Kavkaz, IAA PortNews was informed by a source in Black Sea Ports Administration.

If this project is implemented to a certain degree, the source says, oil cargo will be delivered to port Kavkaz by railway and then by shuttle tankers to the offshore transshipment complex. No terms for the project implementation have been specified yet.

Earlier reports said that Dmitry Medvedev signed a Decree on expansion of water area of port Kavkaz in order to increase transshipment of Russian cargoes with the use of large capacity storage vessels from 7 to 15-20 mln t per year. The port’s water area now includes an additional area southward of port Taman water boundaries (section No 3). This area covering 18.4 m2 has the depth of 26 to 27.6 m. Up to 15–18 additional anchoring berths will be used for cargo transshipment to large capacity vessels.
