Terntank Rederi’s Denmark-flagged tanker Ternvind collided with a Stena Line ro-ro ferry off the island of Vinga outside Gothenburg, Sweden yesterday.
The vessel was reported as having taken a starboard turn in the wrong position en route from the Skarvikshamnen Oil Terminal Gothenburg, carrying 12,000 tons of diesel and gasoline.
Ternvind suffered severe frontal hull damage including a small leak, but did not suffer any internal damage and was cleared to sail to Halmstad this morning, where it currently resides. No pollution has yet been reported.
Meanwhile Stena Jutlandica was able to limp to Gothenburg under its own power despite sustaining a large gash on the port hull and taking on water. None of its 640 passengers was reported injured.
