Taizhou Kouan Lands Contract to Build 8 Boxships

Chinese shipbuilder Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding signed on September 2 a contract with an unnamed German shipowner to construct eight 1,400 TEU container ships, the company disclosed today.

Each vessel will be 153.7 meters long, 27.6 meters wide, and will have a draft of 7.4 meters.

The first boxship in this series is expected to be delivered in August 2017. Taizhou did not reveal the value of the contract.

The latest order brings Taizhou’s orderbook to 52 vessels, including bulk carriers, RoRos, container ships, multi purpose ships, etc.
