Landmark switches Xiamen LNG contract to China Merchants Heavy Industry

Saga LNG Shipping, a new LNG shipping firm controlled by Landmark Capital, has signed a shipbuilding contract with China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) for the construction a 45,000 cu m LNG carrier, plus one option.

Landmark Capital awarded the order to Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry (XSI) in January this year. The 45,000 cu m vessel, featuring self-supporting IMO Type-A tanks mounted within an insulated hold space, is a design first for the LNG trades. The company said the project was delayed at XSI and it has to move it to another shipyard in order to meet strict deadlines with potential end-users.

According to a company statement, the vessel will be built at CMHI’s shipyard in Jiangsu and is set be delivered in early 2018.

Landmark Capital said that in addition to Saga LNG Shipping, the company is targeting a variety of floating projects in the sector calling for FSU, FSRU or FLNG solutions.
