Shanghai box volumes rise 4.1% in November

China’s Shanghai port has posted increased container throughput in November compared to the year-ago period, according to Shanghai International Port (Group) Co (SIPG).

In November, the world’s busiest container port recorded box volumes of 3.04m teu, representing an increase of 4.1% compared to 2.92m teu posted in the same period of 2014.

On a month-on-month comparison, volumes were stable and largely unchanged, SIPG figures showed.

From January to November 2015, Shanghai port moved a total throughput of 33.47m teu, up 3.3% compared to 32.39m teu in the previous corresponding period.
