Wartsila bags CSCL newbuilds engine contract

Wartsila has won a contract to supply engines for eight 13,500 teu containerships ordered by China Shipping Container Lines.

The vessels will be powered by Wartsila Auxpac generating sets with four required for each vessel making a total of 32 for the eight vessels.

The order was placed with Wartsila joint venture, CSSC Wartsila Engine (Shanghai) Co Ltd (CWEC) and the vessels will be built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard. Delivery of the engines will start in the first half of 2017.

“The Wartsila Auxpac 32 engine is a good choice for this application since its design parameters are very much in line with the operational profile needs of the vessels. We are also very pleased to be working with CSCL, a company with whom we have enjoyed a long and successful cooperation," commented. Roger Holm, president, Wartsila Marine Solutions.
