Heavy lift specialist BigLift Shipping has placed an order for a vessel at China’s Ouhua Shipbuilding.

The vessel, named Happy Sun, will be delivered in the first quarter of 2018. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The newbuilding will feature two 900 tonnes Huisman heavy lift mast cranes suited for handling of heavy cargoes. The ship’s tween deck will be adjustable in height and capable of sailing with open weather deck hatches at a draught of up to 7.5 metres.

The latest Happy Sun newbuilding will be identical to another vessel Happy Sun, also built at Ouhua Shipbuilding in 2014.

With Happy Sun, BigLift’s fleet will comprise of 16 heavy lift vessels with lifting capacities of up to 1,800 tonnes.
