Berge Bulk Adds Sixth Handysize

2017-01-17

Singapore-based dry bulk owner and operator Berge Bulk took delivery of Berge Rishiri, its sixth Handysize vessel, from Japan’s Namura Shipyard on January 16, 2017.

The company decided to diversify into the Handysize market and ordered the six 34,000 dwt vessels from the Japanese shipyard in 2013.

Sailing under the flag of the Isle of Man, Berge Rishiri will commence its maiden voyage to the Port of Longview in Washington State (USA), where it will be loaded for a log shipment before heading to China for discharge, the company said.

The vessel is equipped with the Propeller Boss Cap Fins (PBCF), which is said to improve its efficiency.

In September 2016, Berge Bulk added Berge Shari, the fifth Handysize newbuilding, to its fleet.

Berge Hakodate, the first vessel from the batch, was delivered in 2015.
