Bunker fuel prices at Istanbul have jumped, boosted by congestion at the port and a temporary issue of pollution.
The 380 CST fuel oil grade was assessed up $12/mt Friday to a three-week high at $308/mt delivered, S&P Global Platts data showed, while the regional CIF Mediterranean high sulfur cargo benchmark lost ground, falling $2.75/mt day on day to $280.75/mt.
“There was a minor pollution [incident] affecting…two ports at the Gulf of Izmit, the Altintel and Solventas ports. Therefore, two of five physical suppliers were stuck fast,” a supplier said Friday.
Barge availability was also limited, another supplier said.
