Samsung Heavy Industries Co., a major shipbuilder here, is seeking to clinch a deal to build two shuttle oil tankers, industry sources said Friday.

According to the sources, Samsung Heavy is in talks with AET, an affiliate of Malaysian shipping firm MISC, for the deal.

A shuttle tanker is a ship designed to transport oil from an offshore oil field to a storage tank, and is equipped with a variety of offloading equipment.

The deal is estimated at over 200 billion won (US$178 million), and the ships will be delivered by 2019, according to the sources.
