Container line Ocean Network Express (ONE) is adding another 6,000 reefer containers to its fleet as the trade continues to outperform that for conventional boxes.

ONE said it was adding 6,000 forty-foot containers including 500 units equipped with advanced Controlled Atmosphere (CA) technology designed to maximise the life of fresh fruit and vegetables.

The new containers add to ONE’s existing 240,000 teu capacity reefer fleet and will be ready for bookings during the peak season later this year. Last year ONE purchased 14,000 reefer containers for its fleet.

“In 2019 so far, the growth in global refrigerated container trade has outperformed the growth in global container trade and ONE expects the growth momentum to be maintained for remaining months of the year,” the container line said.

Headquartered in Singapore ONE is a joint venture container line between Mitsui OSK Lines, NYK and K Line of Japan.
