肖特尔:不断创新“推进”船舶数字化发展

近日,在第20届中国国际海事展上,肖特尔集团副首席执行官兼船舶业务总裁Hans Laheij先生接受了国际船舶网的采访,畅谈肖特尔近期在船舶智能化和智能设备方面的发展情况及未来展望。

致力于智能船舶、智能设备开发

肖特尔是船用推进设备的主要生产厂家之一,长期以来,肖特尔的各种船舶推进系统一直有着发展智慧船舶和智能设备的传统。

肖特尔副首席执行官兼船舶业务总裁Hans Laheij在谈及船舶智能化推进时表示,肖特尔在一些新的技术、新的产品应用方面有很多的发展和投入,特别是涉及到智智慧船舶、智能设备领域,能看得到肖特尔在过去这段时间里做了很多的工作、投入巨大,目前也取得了一定的成就;肖特尔希望通过这些方面的努力来扩大产品范围,在未来的市场上为客户提供更加广泛的服务。

Laheij特别指出,近期肖特尔与挪威Blue CTRL公司合作,Blue CTRL有着丰富的船舶智能化经验,两家公司的成功合作会让肖特尔的智能化产品技术在更短时间内产生飞跃。

据了解,Blue CTRL是肖特尔与挪威乌斯坦集团(ULSTEIN)各占50%股份的合资公司,采用独特的X-CONNECT®平台向市场交付产品和服务。作为一种数字化平台,X-CONNECT®能用于船舶的智慧控制与监测。平台的所有功能都是可预先定义且可配置的,支持可即插即用,可用于新造船项目和船舶升级项目。

与此同时,Laheij还介绍称:“目前肖特尔正在与新加坡港务局合作,为其船舶配置相关的智能化推进设备,如该船东的一条拖轮正在装备肖特尔的船队管理和船舶设备监控系统。我们也希望在未来一段时间内能够看到这些引航船实际使用的结果,在取得成功之后,我们将把这些技术引进到中国和其他地区。”

联手欧洲企业推动航运业降低碳排放

在智能船舶备受关注的同时,智能设备也是目前航运业的热点话题之一。

航运是全球碳排放的主要来源,船舶排放的温室气体大约占全球温室气体排放量的2%至3%。为了减少航运业的环境足迹,国际海事组织(IMO)在去年设定了到2050年将二氧化碳排放量减少50%的减排目标。

研究表明,实现IMO的目标需要结合使用清洁能源和基于可再生能源的替代燃料。Laheij认为,未来,电池驱动或者柴电混合动力船舶将会更多地应用于市场,肖特尔这些年来也已经与欧洲很多国家或者公司进行了深入的合作,为电池动力或者混合动力船舶提供推进设备。

据了解,肖特尔与挪威主要的渡船运营商建立了长期友好的合作关系。近年来,挪威渡船运营商越来越多地在环境敏感的峡湾和沿海地区选择柴电混合动力或者全电动船舶航行,肖特尔的船用推进器Schottel Rudder EcoPeller(SRE)产品在挪威渡船市场上处于领先地位,已经被选中安装在挪威最大两家渡船公司的8艘新建渡船上使用。

今年8月,肖特尔还与新加坡SembCorp船厂签订了三条渡轮肖特尔SRE的供货合同。该渡轮为挪威渡船公司Norled所建造,采用了电池/柴电混合动力推进装置。这3艘渡船专门为Norled在挪威峡湾Hella-Vangsnes-Dragsvik航线而定制,将使用零排放电池电源运营,服务航速10节,在需要时也可以使用电池-柴油混合动力备份模式运营。肖特尔将为新船提供SRE系列推进装置,最佳地满足Norled对高效率和清洁环保的要求。该合同的签订进一步扩大了肖特尔在挪威渡船市场中的优势地位。

提升服务为中国船东带来更多新技术新产品

近年来,全球造船市场持续处于严冬状态。不过在Laheij看来,虽然市场充满挑战,但船东依然愿意选择肖特尔的产品。换言之,尽管订单量比过去要低,但肖特尔市场份额所受的影响相对较小。

Laheij指出:“在海工市场的订单取消或者延期交付,而商船市场短期也没有回归趋势的情况下,肖特尔凭借多样化的产品覆盖,在其他市场上取得了相对不错的成绩,比如说在一些政府公务船、内河船舶、渡船、工作船和特种船等领域。当然我们目前也在尽可能地提升我们的服务能力、服务水平,改善我们的状态。”

展望未来,Laheij认为,目前很难预测市场未来会有怎样的变化和发展,但能看得到的是,包括贸易纠纷、市场产能过剩等不确定因素确实影响到了后续市场的发展,不过在船东相对稳定并且开始盈利之后,仍然需要继续投资进行旧船改造并订造新船,肖特尔也在想方设法为船东提供更好的服务。

肖特尔十分看重中国市场,并非常愿意在中国地区有更多的投入。据了解,肖特尔约有50%的市场份额来自于亚太地区,这一地区也是肖特尔最大的销售市场。

肖特尔清晰地看到了中国地区的重要地位。在海事展期间,肖特尔于12月4日举行了关于智智慧船舶和智能设备产品的介绍会,向客户介绍了肖特尔在这些方面的船用解决方案。Laheij表示:“作为船用设备的主要生产厂家之一,肖特尔希望能够与中国公司有更多更亲密的合作、大家相互支持,也希望肖特尔新的技术和新的船舶系统能够更好地推动中国船舶行业的发展。”

SCHOTTEL: Continuously innovate to “promote” the ship digitalization development

As the leader of the global ship propulsion system, SCHOTTEL has been committed to the development of intelligent ship and smart equipment services in recent years, has provided clean and environmentally friendly marine propulsion solutions for the shipping industry, and continuously increased the investment in the research and development and innovation of intelligent ships and supporting low-carbon shipping equipment. Striving to provide the best products for ship-owners and markets is also an important magic weapon for SCHOTTEL’s ceaseless success.

Recently, at the 20th Shanghai Marintec, Mr. Hans Laheij, Deputy CEO of the SCHOTTEL Group and President of the ship business, was interviewed by the International Ship Network and talked about SCHOTTEL’s recent developments in the ship intellectualization and intelligent equipment and prospects for the future.

Being committed to the development of intelligent ships and smart equipment

SCHOTTEL is one of main manufacturers of the marine propulsion equipment. SCHOTTEL’s various ship propulsion systems have always had the tradition of developing intelligent ships and smart equipment for a long time.

Mr. Hans Laheij, Deputy CEO of the SCHOTTEL Group and President of the ship business, when talking about ship smart propulsion, says that SCHOTTEL has a lot of development and investment in some new technologies and new product applications, especially in the field related to intelligent ships and smart equipment. We can see that SCHOTTEL has done a lot of work and has invested a lot in the past, and has made some achievements at present. SCHOTTEL hopes to expand the range of products through these efforts so as to provide customers with a wider range of services in the future market.

Laheij particularly notes that SCHOTTEL has recently cooperated with Norway’s Blue CTRL Company which has rich ship intelligentization experience, and that the successful cooperation of the two companies will make the intelligentized product and technology leap in a shorter time.

It is understood that Blue CTRL is a joint venture between SCHOTTEL and Norway’s ULSTEIN Group (ULSTEIN), each holding 50% of shares, and uses a unique X-CONNECT® platform to deliver products and services to the market. As a digital platform, X-CONNECT® can be used for intelligent control and monitoring of ships. All functions of the platform are predefined and configurable, support plug and play, and can be used for new shipbuilding projects and ship upgrade projects.

Meanwhile, Laheij also introduces that “SCHOTTEL is working with PSA in Singapore, the Port Authority of Singapore to configure relevant intelligent propulsion equipment for tugboatspilot of PSAships of the Port Authority of Singapore. One tugboat is being equipped with SCHOTTEL’s newly developed Fleet Management Portal and Vessel monitoring equipment. We also hope to see the actual use results of this ese pilot projectships in the near future, and we will introduce these technologies to China and other regions after success.”

Working with European companies to promote carbon emission reduction in the shipping industry

While intelligent ships are of great concern, intelligent equipment is also one of the hot topics in the shipping industry.

Shipping is the main source of global carbon emissions, and the greenhouse gas emissions from ships account for about 2% to 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions. In order to reduce the environmental footprint of the shipping industry, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) set last year a goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 50% by 2050.

Studies show that to achieve the IMO goal requires a combination of clean energies and the alternative fuels based on renewable energies. Laheij believes that battery-driven or diesel-electric hybrid ships will be more applied to the market, and SCHOTTEL has also cooperated deeply with many European countries or companies in recent years to provide propulsion equipment for battery-powered or diesel-electric hybrid ships.

It is understood that SCHOTTEL has established a long-term and friendly cooperative relationship with major Norwegian ferry operators. In recent years, Norwegian ferry operators have increasingly chosen diesel-electric hybrid or full-electric ships in environmentally sensitive fjords and coastal areas, and SCHOTTEL’s marine thruster Schottel Rudder EcoPeller (SRE) products are in the leading position in the Norwegian ferry market and have been selected and installed for use on 8 new ferries in two largest ferry companies of Norway.

In August of this year, SCHOTTEL also signed a contract with SembCorp in Singapore for the supply of EcoPellers. Sembcorp is building three ferries for Norled, a Norwegian ferry company,. SCHOTTEL  and providsed customized propulsion device solutions for Norled’s 3 battery/diesel-electric hybrid ropax ferries which are being built by Singapore SembCorp Marine Ltd, and further expanded its dominant position in the Norwegian ferry market.

These 3 ferries are customized for Norled’s Hella-Vangsnes-Dragsvik route in Norwegian Fjords, and will be operated with zero-emission battery power supply with the service speed of 10 knots, and also be operated in the battery-diesel hybrid backup mode. SCHOTTEL will provide new ships with SRE series propulsion system to optimally meet Norled’s requirements for high efficiency, clean energy and environmental protection.

Service improvement will bring more new technologies and new products to Chinese ship-owners.

In recent years, the global shipbuilding market continues to be in severe-winter conditions. But in Laheij’s view, while the market is full of challenges, the ship-owners are still willing to choose the products of SCHOTTEL. In other words, although the order quantity is lower than that in the past, the impact of SCHOTTEL’s market share is relatively small.

Laheij points out that: “In the case that orders in the marine market are cancelled or delayed and the merchant market does not trend to return in a short term, SCHOTTEL has, by virtue of its diversified product coverage, achieved relatively good results in other markets, such as in the government official ships, inland waterways, ferries, work ships and special ships. Of course, we will also improve our service abilities, service levels and improve our conditions as much as possible.”

Looking to the future, Laheij believes that it is difficult to predict how the market will change and develop in the future, but what can be seen is that uncertain factors, including trade disputes, market overcapacity, etc., have indeed affected the development of the follow-up market. However, after ship-owners are relatively stable and start to make profits, they still need to continue to invest in the transformation of old ships and order new ships, and SCHOTTEL is also looking for ways to provide better services for ship-owners.

SCHOTTEL attaches great importance to Chinese market and is very willing to have more investment in China. It is understood that about 50% of SCHOTTEL’s market shares come from the Asian-Pacific region, which is also SCHOTTEL’s largest sales market.

SCHOTTEL clearly sees the importance of the Chinese region. During the Maritime Affairs Exhibition, SCHOTTEL held a Seminar especially on intelligent ships and smart equipment on December 4, and introduced its marine solutions in these regions to customers. Laheij states that: “As one of the major manufacturers of marine main propulsion system, SCHOTTEL hopes to have more and closer cooperation with Chinese companies and support each other, and also hopes that SCHOTTEL’s new technologies and new ship systems can better promote the development of China’s shipbuilding industry.”
